Perhaps it’s fitting that my second post is about Firefox, the freeware Mozilla browser. I’m appreciating this puppy more and more every day as I have begun to extend its capacity with extensions and add-ons. Currently my Firefox can do the following things:

• Act as an excellent FTP client (FireFTP).

• Display the contents of my Amazon S3 cloud services container. Basically an online HD for my use. (S3Firefox Organizer).

• Sync my bookmarks to an online service where I can view them in a browser, or sync them to another computer running Firefox and the same extension (Foxmarks).

• Display and autohide my toolbar with one-click buttons on its side for downloads, site information, history and other bookmarkets (All-in-One Sidebar).

• Show my download progress in tiny tool bars along the bottom of the browser window (Download Statusbar).

• Display PDF’s in a browser window which Firefox cannot do natively (Firefox PDF Plugin).

• Block ads and popups (Adblock Plus).

• Show photos in a field view on sites that use CoolIris plugins (Flickr, YouTube, Facebook and others) so that when a photo is clicked on it expands into a full screen experience where each photo can be moved into view by clicking on it. You have to see it to believe how cool it is (CoolIris).

• Customized my Google searches to optimize the experience, plus block Google from tracking my searches (CustomizeGoogle).

• And most important, block certain time wasting sites from being accessed during working hours (LeechBlock).

Plus Firefox just runs well, is stable, well supported, and generally easy on the mind and computer. Todd sez check it out.
